Palliative Emergencies and the Last Days of Life Workshop Virtual Online 6th Oct 2021

Doctors, Nurses, Pharmacists, Health and Social Care Professionals and Paramedics

Time:    9:00  – 16:30

Aim:

This one-day workshop on Palliative Care Emergencies focuses not only situations that are imminently life threatening, but also on those that could result in impaired quality of life for the remainder of the patient’s life, or for the family in their bereavement.

This workshop will enhance further learning and aims to complement the European Certificate in Essential Palliative Care. However the workshop is open to all who want to learn more about palliative medical emergencies and caring for patients in the last days of life.

On completion of this workshop, participants will:

• Recognise a palliative emergency
• Understand the appropriate care and treatment for the palliative emergency as it presents
• Recognise the signs and symptoms of death approaching
• Assess and plan to accommodate patient’s needs during the terminal phase

7 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) approved by An Bord Altranais Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann (The Nurse and Midwifery Board of Ireland)
